“New Uzbekistan Student Olympiad”: High-level delegation reviews student competitions at Karshi State University

In order to assess the ongoing developments in the field of sports and to examine the conditions created for student athletes, a Republican working group currently visiting our region paid a visit to Karshi State University. Among the distinguished guests were the regional governor, Murotjon Azimov, the Minister of Sports, Adham Ikromov, the First Deputy Chairman of the National Olympic Committee, Otabek Umarov, and the Secretary General of the organization, Oybek Kasimov. During their visit, they familiarized themselves with the sports infrastructure established for students at the university. The guests observed the qualifying rounds of table tennis held within the framework of the “New Uzbekistan Student Olympiad” and paid particular attention to the level of preparation demonstrated by the students. For reference, the Olympiad is scheduled to take place in three stages from April to June and will cover seven sports disciplines: 3x3 basketball, volleyball, handball, athletics, table tennis, swimming, and football. Currently, the university-level competitions in other sports are also actively underway. During the visit, members of the working group also met with players of the university’s “Lochin” football club and the volleyball team, engaging in a sincere dialogue about the young athletes’ future plans and their achievements.
